The effectiveness of Chick Learn English for young learners' vocabulary mastery
Vocabulary is an important aspect that have to be learnt in English language. By mastering vocabulary, the students can master the four language skills in English. The problem was that teaching vocabulary is not easy for the teacher. Especially for teaching to young learners. Teacher can utilize many kinds of media, such as fun outdoor games, picture, cards, or something more But, the most applied media for learning nowadays is computerized technology.
This research is aimed to investigate whether using of Chick Learn English media effective than using flashcard for young learner's 4th grade student's in MI Miftakhul Huda Bakalan in vocabulary mastery of English for academic year 2020/2021.
This research is using quantitative approach. The sample of this study is 32 students of 4th grade student's in MI Miftakhul Huda Bakalan in academic year 2020/2021. It is taken by using total sampling technique. The design used for this research is true experimental research. The instrument used to compare the effectiveness of Chick Learn English (CLE) is multiple choice test. The data is analyzed using SPSS 16.00 version and Microsoft excel 2010, using paired t-test (to compare pretest-posttest) and independent sample t-test to compare control group (flashcard) and experimental group (CLE).
The result of this research is teaching vocabulary using CLE is more effective than using flashcard media. It can be seen from the result of calculation which shows that sig. of t-test is 0,000 < 0,05. This can prove the hypothesis proposed.
