The effectiveness of using talking chips toward students` achievement in writing analitical exposition text in MA Raudlatut Thalabah Kediri
Writing becomes one of the major skill to be learned by students in learning English One of the material of eleventh grade students of Senior high is writing exposition text. Analytical Exposition Text is a text that elaborates the writer's idea about the phenomenon surrounding. Its social function is to persuade the reader that the idea is important matter. The difficulties that students face are finding ideas for supporting the topic and developing the arguments of the paragraph. This research is aimed at finding and describing the effect of using talking chips toward students' achievement in writing analytical exposition text of the eleventh grade students at MA Raudlatut Thalabah Kediri in the academic year of 2018/2019.
This research was classified as a quasi-experimental study. It involved 44 students from two groups, Class MIA (21 students) as the experimental group and Class IIS (15 students) as the control group. The data of the pre-test and post-test of both groups were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics
This study used ANCOVA to analyse the data. The result of the analysis showed the students who are taught by using Talking Chips technique have better writing achievement than those who are taught by using mind mapping. The finding of this research has shown that the data was normally distributed. It is proved by the Kolmogorov-Smornov Test, shows (0.950) a (0.05) The Levene's Test shows that experimental and control group has the same ability. The result is p a (0.05). Then, the homogeneity regression shows that p (0.931) > a (0.05). It means that there is no interaction between covariate and independent variable. The last assumption is the output of ANCOVA showed that the significant value was p (0.003)
