Identifying student speaking strategies in the fourth and sixth semester of English Department IAIN Kediri
Speaking seems to be the most important skills of all the four skills because people who know a language are usually referred to as speakers of that language. In reality, speaking is the most difficult skill. This study is to answer questions: What speaking strategies do the students use in the fourth and sixth semester of english departement of IAIN Kediri?
Those problems were discussed through field research conducted in IAIN Kediri. That institution was chosen as data source to get information about speaking strategies do the students use in the fourth and sixth semester of english departement of IAIN Kediri. The data were collected through questionnaire, observation, and documentation. All of the data were analyzed by using qualitative approach.
This study shows that The result showed that students faced speaking problems. Based on the result showed that: With the help of computational data, the result of this study found that metacognitive strategy is the most frequent strategy. Then, the second most frequent is cognitive speaking strategy. In the next place, compensation speaking strategy is the third most common speaking strategy performed by the students. Then, affective speaking strategy and social speaking strategy are respectively going after compensation speaking strategy. The less frequent speaking strategy performed by the students in this research is memory speaking strategy However, all of speaking strategy are reported in the medium level.
