The correlation between the frequency in watching English moi anda vocabulary mastery of Englih department students of IAIN Kediri

The objective of this study was to describe the correlation between frequency in watching English movie and vocabulary mastery. The method which was used in this research was quantitative. The population of this research was second semester of English department students of IAIN Kediri. There were 91 students chose as the sample. There were two instruments in collecting the data; questionnaire was to measure the student's frequency in watching English movie and vocabulary mastery test was to measure student's vocabulary mastery skill. The data were analyzed by using SPSS program that focus on correlation between frequency in watching English movie and vocabulary mastery of English department students of IAIN Kediri. Since the data is not normal, then, researcher used Kendall's Tau analysis.

The findings of this study, showed that there is a significant correlation between frequency in watching English movie and vocabulary mastery, which has correlation. The result of this study indicated that the sig. value of frequency n watching English movie and vocabulary mastery are 0,000 Ztable: 1,96. While the correlation coefficient between the two variables is 0,431, which means that the variable has enough correlation. It can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (HO) is rejected.
