An analysis on grammatical mistakes in teacher-student English conversation at Pondok Syarif Hidayatullah Kediri
Mistakes in the field of grammar must be considered especially in speaking skills, because speaking is a skill that must be mastered by students. Grammatical Mistakes made by students can be identified and analyzed for better purposes. The results of the analysis can provide benefits for teachers and students. For teachers, mistakes can be used as a tool to measure how well the teaching and learning process has gone. By knowing the grammatical mistakes made by students, the teacher can find appropriate ways to improve aspects that are considered weak in students. On the other hand, mistakes made by students can be feedback for themselves. There are several types of grammar mistakes. namely omission, addition, misformation and misordering.
This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive. By involving teacher- student 2 semesters have about 30 students. To collect data, the researcher used observation, interviews and supporting voice recordings for data collection in class conversations. Researchers observed at Pondok Syarif Hidayatullah Kediri and recording conversation in the classroom of the teacher- students. Data analysis begins with the teacher and student starting a conversation and recording spoken sentences. The next step is to classify and interpret the grammar mistakes made by teachers -student. After that the researchers supported the data by checking the interviews in the form of transcripts The results of this study indicate that: (1) The types of grammatical
Mstakes in speaking made by semester 2 students at Pondok Syarif Hidayatullah Kediri in 2019/2020 are negligence, addition, and misformation. (2) Grammatical Mistakes in speaking made by second semester students at Pondok Syarif Hidayatullah Kediri were 79 Mistakes in total. With details of the types of Mistakes s as follows, negligence of 73,4%), misinformation (16.4%), and error of addition (10.2%).
