Improving students' writing skill using RAFT technique for elevent grade of SMAN 1 Nganjuk
Writing is a language skill used for indirect communication. However, producing written paper is not an instant thing but requires a process; the writer must think first then he can do the text. In doing the written form, the writer must pay attention to several efforts such as selecting, adding, revising, and rearranging words or sentences to produce an acceptable text. The purpose of this research was to know the implementation of R.A.F.T technique in learning writing for the eleventh grade students at SMAN 1 Nganjuk.
This research methodology use a classroom action research design with the treatment held in two cycle, one cycle consists of two meetings for about 2 x 45 minutes. This design uses a preliminary study with the pre-test before cycle 1 and post-test at the end of cycle 1, than continue to cycle 2 and post-test in the end of cycle 2. The population of this research is the students of class XI SMAN 1 Nganjuk. Sample was taken in the XI-IPS I class that consists of 9 boys and 21 girls. In collecting data, the researcher used instruments as planning, observing. implementing, and reflecting. Test instruments speak in oral form. After giving a post-test, the researcher then analyzed the data based on the criteria of successful in this research as mentioned ≥75.
The result of this test showed that in the preliminary study, the percentage of achievement was 25.8% or average 64.6. The researcher conclude that the students did as their ability. Than, the percentage of the result of the test at the end of the cycle 1 was 54.8% or average 73.3. It means that there is a significant increasing in the fisrt cycle, but still cannot reach the minimal criterion of success and the researcher still need the second cycle. In cycle 2, the result of the test showed the percentage was 93.5% or average 76.9. The different with the cycle I was in the implementation, that in cycle 2 the researcher used a group as the trick to make the students easier for practice in the treatment, while in cycle I did not use a group. There was an increasing of the result in the end of the cylce. It is proven with the minimum criteria of successfull was reached. So, it can be concluded that this research using R.A.F.T technique in this time is success and the R.A.F.T technique proved can increase students writing skill.
