Developing task-based English language camp module at MA Ar Rosyaad Balong Kediri
MA Ar Rosyaad is a private school with limited source located in Balong Kediri. Some of the students lack of financial, support and motivation in learning English. Although it has limited sources the headmaster and the teachers support the English activity created by the English teacher namely English camp. It has begun since 2017 as the work plan of Peace Corp Volunteer and the counterpart of the school. The program was well planned and went well but there is not any module yet. This present study fills the gap by developing task-based English language camp module at the school. A task-based activity is appropriate for the program because it fixes with the characteristics of the students of the school.
The purpose of developing the English language camp module is to provide guidance for the English language camp facilitators to deliver the language activities easily and provide some activities that lead the participants to use the language freely rather than focus on language form. This English language camp module was also developed to facilitate the students of English camp at MA Ar Rosyaad in building their motivation and confidence in learning English. The differences of this present study compared to the previous ones study are most of schools invite a professional developer to conduct an English language camp with enough support and budget but this present study did the opposite.
ADDIE Model is used to develop this present study. The ADDIE stands for Analyse, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. The ADDIE model is one the most common models used in instructional design. This model serves as a guide for instructional designers, content developers or even teachers.
The main results indicate that the task-based English language camp module has developed students' confidence in speaking English. The module was suitable not just for the students who expect to improve their confidence but also provide task-based activities to improve their language proficiency. The main implication of this study is that the task-based English language camp module could provide a step by step guidance to English facilitator in carrying out the activities in other similar context.
