A correlation study beween motivation and self confidence towards speaing ability of the first grade students of SMAN 1 Ngadiluwih in pandemic era/ online classroom
The objectives of this research are to find out the correlation betwem (1) To find out the significant correlation between motivation and self-confidence(2) To find out the significant correlation between self-confidence and students speaking ability (3) To find out the significant correlation between motivation and students' students' speaking ability (4) To find out the significant multiple correlation between motivation and self-confidence with students' students speaking ability of the first grade students of SMAN 1 Ngadiluwih in Pandemic Era.
The research was carried out at SMAN 1 Ngadiluwih, from April 2020 up to May 2020. The research method was a quantitative correlation research. The population of research all the first graders of SMAN 1 Ngadiluwih in the academic year 2019/2020. Consist of 266 students and it consist of eight classes namely X IPA I, X IPA 2, X IPA 3, X IPA 4, X IPS 1, and X IPS 2, X IPS 3, X IPS 4. The samples of research consist of 70 students. The sampling technique used is cluster random sampling. The techniques of collecting data are questionnaires and test. The questionnaire to motivation and self-confidence, and the test is for speaking ability. The techniques which were used to analyze data were simple and multiple linear regressions.
The results of the study show that (1) The correlation between motivation and self-confidence shows a significant correlation (0,00-0,05) (2) The result of the correlation between self-confidence and speaking skill is positively significant (0,00 0,05) (3The result shows that between motivation and speaking ability has a significant correlation (0,00 0,05) (4) The simultaneous correlation among motivation, self-confidence, and speaking ability is positive significant. It can be seen that significance value (sig. F Change) showed 0,000. As a result, it can be concluded that motivation, self-confidence correlate with speaking ability achievement simultaneously. Moreover, the coefficient correlation (R) lies at 0,664. It means that the variables have strong simultaneous correlation
