Developing English Storybook Based On Character Education Of Indonesian Eyl Learners
The purpose of this research is to produce an English story book for young learner based on character education. The story book can be used to build learners' character for students in elementary school. This research uses development model from Borg & Gall and only take seven steps. The adapted model for developing English story book, namely: (1) need analysis, (2) product development, (3) expert validation, (4) revision I, (5) field testing, (6) revision II, and (7) final product. The subject of the research are 95 students in the 3rd grade of SDN Burengan II and Banjaran I. Then the subject in field testing (try out of product) used 32 students in the 3rd grade of SDN Burengan II Kediri. Types of data obtained in this study are quantitative and qualitative data.
Based on the expert validation 1 (expert of content), the English story book got 92 % and 84 % from expert validation 2 (expert of design). It can be concluded that the English story book that consist of interesting illustration and colour, moral value based on character education and this story book is good to improve students skill in English. Furthermore, based on the result of the students respond, the English story book which revised by the researcher based on the validation result got percentage 93,8%. So, it can be concluded that the English story book is very good and recommended to be used as a media to support and build learners' character based on character education.
