Using Snowball Throwing Technique To Improve The Listening Skill Of First-Grade Students Of SMAN 1 Pare
This study focuses on the using Snowball Throwing Technique to improve
the Listening Skill of First-Grade Students of SMAN 1 Pare. Based on the
preliminary of the study it was found that most of the students had difficulty to
understand the meaning that they had learned and still had low ability listening
skill.
The subject of the study was the 1
grade students of SMAN 1 Pare,
academic year 2017-2018. There were 36 students. The design of the study was
Classroom Action Research (CAR). Based on Taggart and Kemmis, the procedure
of CAR are planning, acting, observing and reflecting. To collect data, the
researcher used some instruments such as observation checklist, pre-test and posttest.
The
result
of
this
research
showed
that
the
students’
average
score
in
pretest
was 57.41 and the average score in post-test was 84.83. The percentage of
successful students in pre-test was 2.77%, the percentage in post-test was 94.44%.
From the result, the students’ responses showed that they were interested in
learning listening through using snowball throwing. Moreover, the students’
achievement in pre-test and post-test showed a significant improvement. So, the
researcher concluded that using snowball throwing at 1

grade of SMAN 1 Pare
can improve students’ listening skill.
