Students’ Perception about peer feedback on Students’ Work at STAIN Kediri
Peer feedback is applied in a way that engage learners in reading their peers’
drafts and in providing feedback based on what the teacher asks for. Traditionally,
learners are asked to exchange their drafts with their partners and evaluate the
organization, content and the language of the papers by answering some questions.
Considering the explanation, the researcher has some research problems. Those are
how do students perceive peer feedback in academic writing class and what kinds of
peer feedback do students find useful in academic writing.
The design of this study is descriptive research using qualitative approach. The
researcher used questionnaire as instrument to collect data. The researcher analyzed
validity and reliability of the questionnaire through computing data into SPSS. The
subjects of the study are 100 English Department students. They are from fourth
semester. The researcher analyzed the data through computing data into Microsoft
Excel.
The result of the study shows that the positive responses are given by the
students’ view about peer feedback in academic writing class. It means that most of
students agree and have positive responses that peer feedback can improve their
writing skill. This method can help to motivate their learning process. Peer feedback
can increase their interaction between among students. On the other hand, students
have some problems. The common problem is the students feel doubt, unclear, and
difficult when they correct their friends’ work. Students received written peer
feedback more useful than oral peer feedback. More than half of students choose
feedback from lecturers which is more understandable than friends.
