Code Mixing Analysis Utterences Used In Kick Andy’s Talk Show On Metro TV

Analysis is an activity which a person distinguishes and describes
something to classify based on a specific criterion. Analysis also can be described
as an ability to solve or untangle an information to be little components in order to
make easy in understanding the information.
This study focuses on code mixing in Kick Andy program in television.
The researcher chosen this TV program because there are many phenomena of
code mixing accur in utterences of the guest. The objective of the study are to
know types of code mixing and the function of code mixing in “Kick Andy”.
In this research, the researcher use descriptive qualitative method. The
researcher is the main instrument in this research because she did the data
collection by documentating three vidios of the program from youtube. The data
are word and phrases in sentence that contained code mixing. The object of the
study is Kick Andy program. The triangulator is the lecturer of sociolinguistic
class where the researcher studying.
The result of study shows that: there are three types of code mixing, namely
insertion, alternation and congruent lexicalization. In this study there are eight
function of code mixing such as: lack of facility, lack of register, mood of the
speaker, to emphasize a point, habitual experience, semantic significant,
pragmatic reasons, and to attract attention. The result show that most of code
mixing used by the guest in her program is insetion because there are many
English term that inserted in their conversation. Mostly, code mixing which used
by the guest “to emphasize” because the guest wants to give more understanding
and to make clear what he said.
