THE EFFECTIVENESS OF WATCHING ENGLISH CARTOON MOVIE IN TEACHING LISTENING COMPREHENSION AT THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMAN 1 GURAH KEDIRI
Teaching English by books is not sufficient to make students get their skill better in their English listening skill. By watching cartoon English movie is hoped as teaching innovation to practice the students to increase their listening ability at that school. The aim of this research was to find out the significant difference between Watching Cartoon English Movie and Non-Cartoon English Movie (The Real Human) in Teaching Listening Ability.
Research design of this study is experimental research. The researcher chooses sample based on information from the teacher that X IIS-2 and X IIS-3 have equal ability in listening. Therefore, the researcher took X IIS-2 class as the experimental group and X IIS-3 class as the control group. The X IIS-2 class was taught by Watching Cartoon English Movie and X IIS-3 class was taught by Watching Non-Cartoon English Movie.
The result of this study showed that the distribution of the data in the research is normal. It can be proven by the result Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, and it showed that the significant value (p) > alpha (α), with p (0.200) > α (0.05) for experimental group and p (0.63) > α (0.05) for control group. Meanwhile, the Levene’s test showed that F (1.69) = 1.314, p = 0.577. The result gave evidence that p (0.577) > α (0.05). It means that the variance of the experimental and control group is equal across groups. Then, the homogeneity of regression test (slope) showed that there was no interaction between the covariate and the independent variable. It was proven by the result of p > α, with p (0.998) > α (0.05)..
While, the result of the output ANCOVA showed the significant value is p (0.004)
