The Effectiveness of Clustering Technique Compared to Four Square Writing Method (FSWM) in Writing Recount Text for the First Grade Students of SMAN 1 Kota Kediri.
The aim of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of Clustering Technique compared to Four Square Writing Methods (FSWM) in writing recount text for the first grade students of SMAN 1 Kota Kediri.
The method used in this research was a quantitative method and the research design was a quasi-experiment. The population of this study is the first grade students of SMAN 1 Kota Kediri in academic year 2017-2018. It consists of 396 students who were divided into eleven classes. Each class consists of about 36 students. In this research, the researcher took two classes which consist of students in same ability in writing. The researcher chooses sample based on information from the teacher that X MIPA-F and X MIPA-G have equal ability in writing. Therefore, the researcher takes X MIPA-G class as the experimental group and X MIPA-F class as the control group. The X MIPA-G class is taught by using Clustering Technique and X MIPA-F class is taught by using Four Square Writing Method (FSWM).
The result of this study showed that the distribution of the data in the research is normal. It can be proven by the result Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, and it showed that the significant vdalue (p) > alpha (α), with p (0.200) > α (0.05). Meanwhile, the Levene’s test showed that F (1.70) = 1.037, p = 0.312. The result gave evidence that p (0.312) > α (0.05). It means that the variance of the experimental and control group is equal across groups. Then, the homogeneity of regression test (slope) showed that there was no interaction between the covariate and the independent variable. It was proven by the result of p > α, with p (0.199) > α (0.05). The last assumption is there was relationship between the covariate and the dependent variable. It was proven by the result of F (1.69) = 484.672, with p (0.001) < α (0.05). It means that there is a relationship between the covariate and the dependent variable.
While, the result of the output ANCOVA showed that the significant value is p(0.003)
