Using guiding questions to improve the students' writing ability in recount text of the tebth grade students oh MA Raudlatut Thalabah Ngadiluwih Kediri
English has four skills that should be mastered by students, they are listening, reading, speaking and writing. Writing is the most difficult skill in English. The research was conducted at MA Raudlatut Thalabah Ngadiluwih Kediri. The fact in preliminary study, the researcher found that the students of MA Raudlatut Thalabah Ngadiluwih Kediri have difficulties in writing recount text. The students could not retell about past experience because they are lack of vocabulary and do not have any idea to write. So they need some ways or methods to help them improving their writing skill in recount text. The researcher used guiding questions technique to help them improving their writing idea during writing recount text.
The researcher used classroom action research design to be implemented in this research. The require data were collected through the use of an observation checklist and test. The function of observation checklist is to know the activities in teaching learning process and the use of test is to know the students’ writing skill and to know the improvement of their writing. This research is considered success if more than 80% students of the class achieved the score greater than or equal to 80 in the students’ writing test.
In this research, there is one cycle. There are four meetings in this cycle. The percentage of successful of this technique is 94%. The average of students’ score is 88. It means that almost student pass the test. The students’ attitude during the writing process is excellent. The students enthusiasm in writing recount text were significantly improved. From the result of the whole meeting, it can be concluded that use of guiding questions technique can improve students’ writing skill in recount text.
