An Analysis of Educational Values on The Teacher’s Diary Movie
In a literature people can find many didactic moralistic elements. It set out deliberately to inculcate education values into children by the choice of such literature. There is education aspect to any human situation portrayed in novels, poetry, and drama. It helps children to expand their experience and heighten their awareness of social and moral dilemma.
In this study the researcher chooses “The Teacher’s Diary” movie. This movie is chosen to analyze the important of educational values as part of our life and education. There are two research problems proposed. First, what are the educational values found in “The Teacher’s Diary” movie and second, what are the implications of “The Teacher’s Diary” movie in relation with the teacher professionalism. The theories used in this study are educational values theory by Linda and Richard Eyre and theory of teacher professionalism by Pamela A. Kramer. The methodology of the study is descriptive qualitative study. It means that it does not need statistic approach to explore the material. The instrument of this study is the researcher herself. It means that the researcher is the instrument in collecting and analyzing the data.
The result of the data analysis shows that there are some educational values appear in the “The Teacher’s Diary” movie, they are: honesty, loyalty, love and affection, bravely, patient, confidence and sensitive. And there are some implications of “The Teacher’s Diary” movie in relation with teacher professionalism, they are: attitude, behavior, and communication.
