This study deals with The Effectiveness of Using Realia in Teaching Writing Descriptive Text for the Tenth Grade Students of MA Ma’arif Nu Kepung in the academic year 2016/2017. The objective of the study was to find out the difference of effectiveness of the students writing skill whose are taught and not taught by realia media.
The method of this research was quasi-experimental study; with the total number of the sample were 60 students. The data of this study was taken from using pre-test and post-test by score of writ descriptive text by using realia media. The research data were analyzed by using ANCOVA. The formula used to determine whether there was a significant difference between students’ score in the experimental group and students’ score in the control group.
After the data had been collected and analyzed using ANCOVA through SPSS, the result showed that the average score of post-test in the experimental and control group was significantly different whereas in the pre-test they have the same average score. The average score of pre-test of experimental group is 64.83 and 65.37 for the control group. While the average score of post-test of experimental group is 77.53 and 71.63 for the control group.
