The Effectiveness Of Stad Model Index Card Match Strategy In Teaching Reading At the Tenth Grade of SMAa Islam Al Wahid Kepung
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of teaching reading using STAD model Index card match strategy. Considering the research by Lubis the researcher replicates this research using index card match strategy to know the effectiveness of this strategy by combining it with STAD model.
This study uses quasi experimental research design. The experimental group was taught by using STAD model index card match strategy, and the control group was taught without using this technique. The researcher used a reading test as the instrument of the research. The researcher uses ANCOVA to analysis the data.
Based on the analysis of validity test, reliability, level of difficulty, and discrimination power, the test that used in this research is valid and very reliable. The testing is performed using SPSS 16.0 for Windows. The testing of hypothesis shows that the result of significance value is 0.014. It means that p < α (0.014 < 0.05). It can be seen that the null hypothesis is rejected. There is difference of reading skill between the students who are taught by STAD model index card match strategy, and the students who are taught by conventional learning model.
The reading skill of the students who are taught by using STAD model index card match strategy is better than the students who are taught by using conventional learning. Thus STAD model index card match strategy gives a positive impact in students’ reading skill.
