The implementation of cambridge curriculum in the teaching – learning process at smp wahid hasyim tebuireng jombang / Serli Febrina Wahidiyanti

The implementation of Curriculum cannot be separated from the teaching – learning process. It should be contiguous in order to get optimal outputs. Process is the way to achieve the aim of education. No matter how good the learning program and the implementation is, the goal depends on the process of education. SMP Wahid Hasyim is one of schools that implements Cambridge Curriculum. The researcher is interested in conducting the research entitled: The Implementation of Cambridge Curriculum in the Teaching – Learning Process at SMP Wahid Hasyim Tebuireng Jombang. The research problem is how Cambridge Curriculum applied in the teaching – learning process. The objective of the research is to describe and analyze the implementation of Cambridge Curriculum. It is to know the concept, the implementation, and the result. The research is descriptive qualitative. The researcher describes the implementation of Cambridge Curriculum in the teaching – learning process at SMP Wahid Hasyim Tebuireng Jombang. The data collection was collected through interview, observation, and documentation. The researcher observed the teaching preparation, teaching process, and evaluation. To get the data about the teacher’s preparation, the researcher interviewed the English teacher and observed the available document. The researcher observed instructional process in the teaching – learning process to get the data about teaching – learning process. The researcher interviewed the English teacher to know the evaluation system applied by the teacher. The result shows that in teaching preparation, teacher uses a syllabus and guide book that consists of how to teach Cambridge Curriculum program. The teaching process includes two types. The first is teaching technique in which the teacher gives motivation to make students interest in learning, and gives information about how to do and how to understand the material. The second is teaching media in which students receive Workbook and Handbook that every meeting they often get a task. The evaluation is called checkpoint that CIE (Cambridge International Examination) program. It is conducted once a year.
