The problems faced by english teachers of senior high school in implementing the 2013 curriculum / Eka Nur Azizah
Key Words : The Problems, Implementation, The 2013 Curriculum.
Curriculum is an instrument for raising the quality of education, so it is the significant thing for education which the effect for curriculum is interpretation in experience of life that is social life. In Indonesia, the implementation of the entire of curriculums is based on condition for that time. In addition, the condition of the government, so the curriculums have much change in the early period. It is in 1947, 1952, 1964, 1968, 1975, 1984, 1994, 2004, 2006, and 2013. The change is logic consequences of the politic system change, the culture change, the economic change, and the development of knowledge in the country, but this change has been making some problems in every aspects. In this era, Curriculum 2013 is the newest curriculum that implemented in Indonesia. This new curriculum is competence based curriculum that use scientific approach in teaching learning process. The purpose of this research is to know what are the problems faced by English teachers of senior high school in implementing the 2013 curriculum. The research design in this research is using descriptive qualitative. The instrument of the research is interview. The researcher interviews the English teachers who are teaching English in senior high school that implementing the 2013 curriculum in Kediri town, that are SMAN 1 Kediri, SMAN 2 Kediri and SMA Ar-Risalah Kediri. Based on the interviews, there are some research findings in this research: they are problems in teaching learning process and implementing scientific approach, problem in assessment and problem in handbook. The teachers must increase the students’ knowledge about English to overcome implementing scientific approach to their students in teaching learning proccess. The teachers should attend the training of the 2013 Curriculum to add their knowledge in implementing the 2013 Curriculum. The teachers make a random sampling in affective assessment. The teachers take the generality of the evaluation from their students. Looking for in another references or books to add the matter or topic that be taught by the teachers in teaching learning process.
