Using mind mapping in improving students’ writing skill in recount text of eight graders of mtsn tanjunganom-nganjuk / Rasdiana Hanifah

The title of this research is “Using Mind Mapping in Improving Students’ Writing Skill in Recount Text of Eight Graders of MTsN Tanjunganom Nganjuk”. The fact emerging from the preliminary study done at MTsN Tanjunganom Nganjuk, the students have low writing skill and most students were passive and not enthusiastic in the writing lesson especially for writing recount text. To cope with the problems the researcher using mind mapping. This study is a CAR (Classroom Action Research) study is the eight grader students of MTsN Tanjuganom Nganjuk in the Academic Yearof2012/2013.There were 42 students of the eighth grader of MTsN Tanjunganom Nganjuk. The procedures of mind mapping method covered four steps namely planning, implementing, observing and then reflecting. In cycle I, there is only one student or 2,38% from 42 students get score upper standard score (KKM : 75) for their writing score. The average score of cycle I is 59,55. For the activeness in the first meeting is 41% and it become 66% or it increased become 25%. In cycle II, all of students or 100% of students get score upper standard score (KKM : 75) for their writing score. The average score of cycle II is 88. All of students become active in this cycle. It means that criteria of success of students’ writing improvement and students’ active involvement during the implementation are fulfilled. Based on the result, the researcher suggests implementing mind mapping to improve students’ writing skill in the teaching writing.
