This thesis is a descriptive qualitative study on the use of English as the medium of instruction in teaching mathematics and science, particularly on the participants’ interaction in SD Tunas Bangsa Pare Kediri. The aims of the study are to describe the preparation of the teacher, the classroom talk and the method of the teacher in teaching Mathematics and science using English as the medium of instruction. The data of this study are the interaction between the teacher and the learners in the classroom in SD Tunas Bangsa from the third grade until five grade.
In order to analyze the data, some steps are conducted. First, the data was taken by recording the classroom interaction, observation and interviews with the teachers of English for Mathematics and English for Science.
The result of this study shows that teachers are active using English as the medium of instruction in the classroom. The preparation and the method used by the teachers are using English language. The lesson plans and syllabus are made using English language. The teachers employed code switching in order to make the students understand with the related material. Combining two languages in teaching and learning process made the students and teacher to be bilingualism. And bilingual education brings many advantages to the students
