There are two kinds of test are administered to the students in both groups, namely pre-test and post-test. The format of the test is written test about recount text. The purpose is to determine the students' writing skill before and after giving treatment. The researcher analyzed the data using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) by SPSS 2.4 version.
The results of this research showed that the data was normally distributed. It was proven by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test that the significant value (p) of tests were 0.200 for pre-test of experimental, 0.168 for pre-test of control class, 0.200 for post-test of experimental class, and 0.063 for post-test of control class. Those were higher than 0.05. The Levene's Test shows that (p) was 0.475 for pre-test and 0.702 for post-test (pa 0.05). The homogeneity regression shows that (p) was 226 ( 0.05). Then, the result of ANCOVA showed that (p) was 0.000 (pa 0.05). It was enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis and accepted the alternative hypothesis Based on the findings above, the researcher concludes that there is significant difference between the use of Instagram and the use of WhatsApp on the students score in writing.
